Our Rooms
Wrens Room

Our Wrens Room is a cosy, nurturing space designed especially for our youngest children. Here, we focus on creating a calm and caring environment where each child feels safe, valued, and free to explore the world at their own pace.

In the Wrens Room, we follow a gentle, child-led approach to learning, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing and secure attachments. Our experienced practitioners build warm, trusting relationships with every child, helping them to settle in confidently and feel a true sense of belonging.

The space is thoughtfully set up to inspire curiosity and creativity, with natural materials, sensory play, and plenty of opportunities for open-ended exploration. Whether it’s exploring textures, engaging in early mark-making, or sharing stories and songs, every moment is meaningful and rooted in the child’s individual interests and developmental stage.

Children in Wrens Room also enjoy age-appropriate outdoor play, including mini adventures into our Forest School areas. Even the smallest explorers benefit from time in nature—feeling leaves crunch underfoot, listening to birdsong, or simply enjoying fresh air and freedom.

We work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition from home to nursery, offering a home-from-home experience where little ones can thrive, grow, and begin their lifelong love of learning.

Robins Room

The Robins Room is a vibrant, nurturing space for our curious and energetic two- to three-year-olds. It’s a time of big emotions, big imaginations, and even bigger leaps in development—and our dedicated team is there to support every step of the journey.

In Robins Room, we embrace the unique personalities of each child, encouraging independence while offering plenty of reassurance and cuddles when needed. Our calm yet stimulating environment is designed to promote choice, confidence and exploration, with carefully planned activities that support communication, physical development and early social skills.

Whether they’re role-playing in our home corner, building towers, painting with their fingers or singing along to favourite songs, children are free to follow their interests and express themselves in their own way. We provide a balance of adult-guided and child-led experiences, always shaped by what captures each child’s imagination.

Outdoor play is a huge part of the Robins experience, with regular access to our garden spaces and Forest School sessions. This is where children begin to take a more active part in outdoor learning—jumping in muddy puddles, collecting leaves, and building friendships while discovering the world around them.

We know that this age can come with big feelings and growing independence, so we place a strong focus on emotional development, helping children learn to recognise their emotions, build social connections and begin developing essential life skills.

At Deal Nursery and Forest School, the Robins Room is a joyful, supportive space where children are encouraged to be themselves, try new things and take the next step in their early years adventure.

Woodpeckers Room

The Woodpeckers Room is home to our confident, capable preschoolers—busy little learners who are full of questions, ideas and growing independence. This vibrant, thoughtfully designed space provides a rich environment where children are encouraged to think for themselves, take on new challenges and prepare for their next big step: starting school.

In the Woodpeckers Room, we follow a child-centred approach that balances structured activities with plenty of free play and exploration. Our experienced practitioners support each child’s learning through a mix of group time, one-to-one support and hands-on experiences that promote language, literacy, maths, problem-solving and creativity.

Children are encouraged to follow their interests—whether it’s investigating bugs in the garden, painting a masterpiece, building a rocket from recycled materials or sharing a favourite story with a friend. We gently introduce early routines that support school readiness, such as turn-taking, following instructions and building concentration, all while ensuring the joy of childhood is never lost.

Forest School continues to be a key part of the Woodpeckers experience. Children grow in confidence as they explore the outdoors, take supported risks, and work together around the fire pit—where they may even toast a marshmallow or two! These sessions build resilience, communication skills and a deep connection with nature.

By the time they leave the Woodpeckers Room, our children are not only ready for school—they’re curious, confident, and excited for what comes next.
